Good Practice Guidelines
In 2001 Stuart Gatehouse was commissioned by the Scottish Executive Health
Department to produce guidelines for the National Health Service in Scotland
for Good Practise Standard for adult hearing aid fittings and services.
Subsequently a working group of the International Collegium of Rehabilitative
Audiology has been formed to expand these guidelines outwith the context of
the National Health Service in Scotland to embrace healthcare delivery systems
internationally. The intention is to produce a set of guidelines which can
be used as a framework document to develop practise standards tailored to
individual healthcare settings. The initiative is being carried forward under
the auspices of the International Society of Audiology who will ultimately
ratify the guidelines. The current draft guidelines are under consideration
by the executive board of the ISA.
